This utility provides a 'mode history'. Its features:
• Shows the 12 most recently used screenmodes in a window; you can switch
to one of these modes with a single mouse click.
• The window is opened after a click with Adjust on the icon of the
Display Manager (or, if you don't have a RiscPC, the Palette Utility). This
makes !ModeHist look like an integral part of the rest of the mode control.
• A Shift-Adjust click on the Display Manager icon switches to the previous
screenmode.
• The history can be saved in a file. The file is read the next time !ModeHist
starts up, so you can have a list of your preferred sceenmodes.
This program requires RiscOS version 3.10 or later.
!ModeHist is FreeWare. For conditions of use, read the copyright notice at the end of this manual.
How to use it
—————————————
Run the program in the usual way. A click with Adjust on the Display Manager icon opens the history window (which is at first empty). The history shows the X and Y resolution and the number of colours. It is in reverse order, i.e. the most recent screenmode is at the bottom of the window, and the 'oldest' one is at the top. A click with Select or Adjust switches to that mode.
A click the Menu button over the history pops up the menu, which (apart from the usual 'Info' and 'Quit') has only one item:
'Save status' - saves the current history to a file.
An Adjust-click while holding the Shift key does not open the history, but immediately switches to the previous screenmode. This can be handy if you have to switch between two modes a lot, e.g. a 'big' mode for viewing your DTP work and a 'small' one to do the editing.
